Why I'd rather get a pet than meet an online date! (dating, marriage)

First off, let me say thank you to everyone who put their two cents in regarding my safety with meeting my online date!
We met in a safe place. We talked. I am sooo glad I had him checked out because my information from my people was RIGHT ON...this man's ego preceeded him. He went on about how all these women found him so attractive; I was floored. I started spacing out about why people do drugs because after this experience, I was certain I was going to need some.
When I thought I had something to offer to the conversation, I was constantly interrupted. I had been warned this man had serious issues and could turn on one in an instant. Word up! Luckily we did not have the same taste in anything. Now in my opinion, that's not necessarily bad, but in this case, it didn't matter.
I wanted to order something on the menu that I'd never had. He convinced me to share a meal with him that he thought was out of this world....I was so not convinced
WOW! I am finishing up my month long membership and will remove my profile!
If I want something to cuddle with, I'll get a pet.
It's extremely hard to find a good man online or otherwise but the saying goes, 'you've got to kiss alot of toads before meeting your handsome prince.' LOL
I was on the online dating thing for awhile and most of the men were nice but they had issues or baggage. Finally, I found a good one but it took a lot of dating 'frogs' before I found him.
I wouldn't give up if I were you. This was your first one.
If you do get a pet, get a lab or retriever. They're good listeners.

I was extremely lucky. My sis signed me up for online dating one wine-infused night. I talked to a few guys online and agreed to meet one of them. He was great and now we are together, still going strong (and living together) two years later!! It can happen, although I do realize it is very rare.
Another friend of ours also had success with online dating and is very happy with his relationship.
You poor thing...I went the online dating route and that is how my current hubby and I met, but boy, like songinthewind said, there were a LOT of toads.....at least the guy you met didn't want to "swap underwear" during dinner
Seriously, there are some nice guys out there - your first just wasn't so great. I met a lot of nice guys and while there was no "chemistry" we still had some fun times and there were more nice guys than toads.....

Well, this one is clearly in the toad category, but I wouldn't let it keep you from going out on more dates. As a veteran of many bad dates, you have all my sympathy. But there are some good people out there. BTW, what is AMI/SRQ?
I know a guy who was mourning the breakup of his marriage and learning that his ex had her golden retriever sleeping with her.
