Small wonder that religious fanatics often target sex as the worst of evils.
As a very committed Christian I have to say neither my religion, my faith or my study of the Bible has ever "conditioned" me to regard sex as "immoral, dirty or unclean".

Viewing sex in that way would be very unusual among my community of family and friends. And we are not so rare.

The reality is, sex is a subject many people find difficult to discuss, especially with their own kids, for many complex reasons - certainly not just "religious" ones.

At best, most parents are only able to choke out the basics and mechanics of the act itself. This discomfort and embarrassment is then passed on to their kids. And generation after generation perpetuates the cycle. Education and openness is key to a healthy sex life.

Sometimes it is just the person you are with that just doesn't start up the engine.

Interesting post.
But why the embarrassment and difficulty to discuss? That must have an origin.

I am all too familiar with 'the origin' of this problem. reaching for the Tylenol--sad to say it seems to be religion and cultural norms. Ye Olde Double Standard. 'Nice Girls'/all cats are gray in the dark.

'Most cultures exhibit a particular configuration or style. A single value or pat-
tern of perceiving the world often leaves its stamp on several institutions in the
society. Examples are "machismo" in Spanish-influenced cultures, "face" in
Japanese culture, and "pollution by females" in some highland New Guinea
cultures. Here Horace Miner demonstrates that "attitudes about the body"
have a pervasive influence on many institutions in Nacireman society.'

Promoted by the devil? I think you lost me there.
Keep watching this thread, eventually god and the bible (and rules for sex) will be mentioned.

Well, you brought it up first, which was why I responded that nothing in the Bible or my relationship with God has lead me to have the attitudes about sex you claim they will (sex is "dirty", immoral" and "unclean")

How about the comments that people who have sex outside of marriage (or before marriage) are 'less worthy', 'immoral pigs', etc.

I am unaware of the phrase "immoral pigs" actually existing anywhere in the Bible

Exactly. PEOPLE and their misunderstanding/misinterpretation of God are the problem, not God himself
