I said the same thing and the OP completely blew me off... I'm almost wondering if this is a thread just to talk **** about men not getting boners..

Course... never happens with me.. I can cut diamonds on demand, but you know how other men have problems.... LOL....

Don't try and do anything about it, don't make a big deal about it, the proverbial, "it's not you, it's me" applies here.

So in other words, don't based your womanhood on whether a drunk dude can get a stiffy, or even sober for that matter, unless you're in a competition with Quasimodo in the looks department it most likely it isn't you.

Chowhound Sorry I read your post and I thought I replied to it and found your words to be knowledgeable and insightful. Thanks but I'm not trying to put men down, I enjoy this man beyond words and I'd never do anything to harm him . But I needed answers.

Another guy was taking Paxil for social anxiety disorder and later revealed to me he is an alcoholic.

The common denominator was anxiety...and there is very little I ever felt I could do about that. Men aren't inclined to let a woman in, no matter how caring and patient. I recently went out 5-6 times with a guy I really liked, but when I dropped a couple of hints that sex was definitely an option for me, he dropped me like a hot potato. I suspect he is an alcoholic, so I wasn't sorry to get dropped.

To answer the OPs question, it isn't just about the 4 beers. It is also about the longer term health implications of drinking alcohol. It isn't just what he drank tonight, but what he drank all week, the week before and the week before that......

He needs a complete check up and to FULLY discuss this with an MD. He probably won't want to!
Very true it's hard to get him to see a doctor, he's been single his whole life and lol he's survived this long.... I have however got him to start taking pain medicine (Tylenol, Aleve) when he needs it and massages for his back and legs when I visit, it helps him sleep better.

That is awesome that you guys have a good time together...

If he keeps having problems, he needs to see a doc, cause unless he's 90, he should be sportin wood around you...heck... I've been with the same women a hundred yrs and I saw her bend over to put some pants on and I forgot my name for a moment...............

Augiedogie honestly I'd say a large amount of guys who work as commercial electrician drink every event I've gone with him for work or friends from his work they all drink. Honestly they put their lives on the line 12 hrs a day 6 days a week. They've had friends die horrible deaths. I think it's self medication a way of unwinding after such a stressful job. Now he doesn't drink every day but he does drink, mostly beer.

Thanks for the suggestions but honestly if he doesn't see an issue with it I'm going to let it be, I just wanted to know if it's normal and not something I'm doing.

Stress is a big one for me too...I need to be in a fairly calm & relaxed state to be able to perform optimally.

Strangely enough being oversexed can cause it too. Just recently I was with my FWB three nights in a row...fairly long sessions too. We've had more free time than usual lately and tried for four nights in a row and it just wasn't happening for me, so we agreed to take a break for a bit to let me recover lol.
I can see his issue being fatigue , a bit of stress , and liquor. Thanks for sharing.

I would have a talk because it would annoy the crap out of me to lose against 2 beers.
He's down to have sex it just takes more effort and until he sees it as an issue, I won't bring it up.

As someone who has ED due to diabetes, but can certainly please my women in other ways, I have to ask... if the guy is just not wanting to engage in any acts if he cannot perform, that seems selfish of him. But if you are making the situation uncomfortable because of this, maybe look within
Jacktheknife you're right there's others ways to pleasure women and no I don't make it an issue that he has trouble. Thanks for sharing
