Even if true i.e. it’s an ‘art interest’ she enjoys, aren’t gifts supposed to be something the other would enjoy and/or they find to be meaningful as a couple? Perhaps it isn’t ‘stupid’, but it certainly is immature (and isn’t very thoughtful).

I was brought up all my life to always say thank you and act like you really like it whether you do or not. And I tried to teach my sons the same thing.

Plus those adult coloring books are pretty good when you're just stretched out watching TV.

I think, if you look at it from the perspective of "creativity" it works better. Just trying to give the OP some credit for trying something new.

It’s obviously up to the OP what ‘works better’ for her (or what she gives her boyfriend/husband as a gift). However, she did ask our opinion; and as such, it sounds like something a child would do for a parent. I’m not a dad, but I would certainly appreciate it in this context.

However, per the thread, I’d think it to be immature and a bit passive/aggressive as it’s obviously known there’s not much any of us can do with a coloring book full of sports quotes. Creatively, it’s quite different than being a serious artist and painting a landscape or taking a photo of herself for a handmade frame that I can (rationally) display.

Or just peculiar. But if you're a sports addict, who knows what's normal?

I have to admit here, I don't have any coloring books.
