Over the years I have heard teaching that we all have certain gifts mentioned in Romans 12. For example, the gift of administration, the gift of mercy, gift of "helps," gift of evangelism, gift of exhortation, etc. Do you think you have certain gifts? Do you think anyone on this forum has certain gifts that you can identify? Or do you even know what I'm referring to...maybe this is just a "charismatic teaching!" I was just thinking about it today on this forum when someone responded a certain way, it made me wonder if their motivational gift is evangelism. That just got me to thinking....

I think alot of people on here have gifts, actually everyone does, whether they choose to use them or not is a diff topic and if they use them for God. I dont know if I have a "gift" so to speak, but I can relate to kids and teens, so I do my best to use that for God, prob cause I often act immature..maybe thats it, but I tend to see things on their level vs adult, and would much rather be sitting at the teen table than at the adults...speaking of immature...heres a guy thats not a good motivational speaker..

disclaimer....hope what he says doesnt offend anybody, its just for laughs

Yes Christians have spiritual gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 "Now there are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service in the church but it is the same Lord we are serving. There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church"

We all have a different gift for a different purpose, it's up to us to learn what it is and how to use it to glorify God and build up others.

There is actually scripture in the Bible referring to the fact that we are all given a talent (I will have to ask my pastor where the scripture is though...he taught on it a couple of times).

Some have musical talent, some may have a talent for teaching, or baking or uplifting the sick elders or???
I am still looking for mine! I would really LOVE to learn to play the piano, but... maybe some day when the kids are all grown up

I have seen many talents exposed on here:
Kaykay, you have the gift of speaking from your heart and speaking so eloquently that people actually listen...definately a great quality!
Alpha has about the same talent, but also has a wonderful gift for preaching/teaching the Word! Haven't actually HEARD him, but I have READ him and I'll bet when he talks, people listen!
Aiangel has a gift for writing. Her stories and posts are always so vivid and leave a mental picture!

There are others, but I will wait and see how others respond!

I also believe everyone has a talent, some people are blessed with many. But Spiritual Gifts are different.

I have always been facinated with Spiritual Gifts. Hmm. let me see, I think I narrowed mine down to the gift of I want to say service, but that is not quite right. How could I forget? Old age I guess! Hospitality that is what it was.

Oh I agree...the pastor was teaching on gifts and talents as far as finding our talent to use it for the Lord...like music etc.

It's funny, some people have the gift of gab and can sell an ice cube to an eskimo . But I know of one man that can preach like I have heard no other . Some people have a gift of hospitality (such as Aiangel). We all have regular "worldly" talents, but it's the ones that we can use to glorify God that really matter!

I think we could probably guess some of the spiritual gifts of many who post here. I could have some ideas for many of you, but of course, we only see a glimpse of the whole picture of who someone is based on their posts here. Some people are a little more revealing of their personality etc. in the way and the frequency that they post. So that picture we have may be inaccurate. I'll be brave though and make a few guesses just based solely on what I observe here on the forum and maybe like our thread on physical appearance, may be way off base!

Kawg - mercy
ai angel- you already said hospitality and the way you cook, I'm sure that's true, but I also would've said mercy for you too.
Jeff-mercy
ILNC-exhortation
Alpha-teaching/evangelism
Blue-mercy/hospitality
Spunky-prophecy (not in the sense of a prophetic utterance, but generally, a person who sees things in "black and white" and calls a spade a spade)
Midnightbird girl-prophecy/teaching
Marks-prophecy
Irishmom-mercy/service
arguy-mercy
mams-mercy/teaching
Lulu-teaching
Britz-teaching/exhortation

Just some thoughts that came to mind. I was just thinking primarily of the gifts listed in Romans 12. As Kawg pointed out, there are many gifts and talents which we can use for the Lord which are not listed there.

I took a Spiritual Gifts test one time and according to that I have the gifts of encouragement and prophesy.
