Education begins in the home. If we choose to pass our faith on to our children, that is our business.
Faith is believing in something that common sense tells us not to. DH and I have alot of faith and have chosen to pass our values on to our children as our parents passed on to us which happens to include our religion.
That, of course, is your right and good for you. The only problem would be if you insisted that you were commanded to do this and harangued others to do exactly so.
By your statement, this doesn't seem to be the case.

Every parent should instill their own values in their children, regardless of what those values are.
Doesn't mean that they'll "take". But they do have the duty to pass on their values.

Duty to whom? Themselves? If they are criminals is it their duty to instill their values to their children, thus continuing a path of illegal activities? Or is it their "duty" to pass on to their children to attempt to improve on their values with regard to their children?
It doesn't mean that the children will adopt those values. My parents were atheists, and raised me as such, but I didn't accept the values they raised me with because, frankly, they were ***holes.
Christians choose to teach their children about God and the Bible, because God is the truth and the Bible is His word.
If your children were taught an evil, unsupported hypothesis like evolution in school would you not want them to know the truth? I would!
How funny! And here I thought that Christians didn't have a sense of humor!
Evil? Alternative ideas are inherently evil? Simple, well conceived, documented and provable Ideas are evil? That Christian fundies are threatened by such ideas is proven. That they must over-react and counter with unsupported gibberish statements is also documented. Like right here. Thx, Nikk!
The more egregious and oddball their defensive comments are, the more convinced we thinkers are that, of course, it's the truth, else the IDTrs would not be adamant it's all a big lie!
Much better short answer:

Then they passed on their best quality to you.
