Now for something real serious to dislike about Mormons. If you visit them at their homes, they never have any coffee to offer.
I guess I am having a hard time thinking of someting I can dislike about them. My 4 best non-Muslim friends are Mormon. While we do disagree about our beliefs we do not dislike each other and actually enjoy each others company they do respect our desire that the men and women sit seperatly, preferably in seperate rooms. Perhaps it is because we share having to face misconceptions about our beliefs that we can relate to each other.
Please do not post if you cannot respond to both questions. Let's see if we can keep this thread open for more than a couple of hours.
1. Name one thing you like about Mormons or admire about their religion.
2. Name one thing you dislike about Mormons or object to concerning their religion.
Well, where I'm from, there are a lot of LDS families. I knew several when growing up and continue to be close friends with a couple of guys I've known since childhood.
What I like about Mormons/Mormonism is their (generally) high moral character. The Mormons I have known have been unfailingly honest and decent people.
What I don't like is that some Mormons, though certainly not all, seem to have a sense of superiority and look down on others not of their faith. Yes, I realize other religious groups are guilty of this, but it seems to be more prevalent among Mormons.
Funny, that is not how some of these other churches see it. They see the group that followed Brigham Young as a branch that split away from the church Joseph Smith founded. And some have decent arguments to support that as the majority of the Smith family did not follow Young.
I know they have their arguments. Personally, I don't find any of them convincing. On the other hand, I can totally understand why Emma stayed behind. Had I been her, I probably would have done, too.

In all honesty, most of the Muslims I have interacted with online have been a lot more civil and respectful than most of the Christians I've interacted with online. I know only a handful of Muslims in real life, and they're all good people. We actually have enough in common that I am not surprised you have good friends who are Mormons. And I agree that having your beliefs misrepresented all the time really does change how you feel when you see this happen to other people.

If this has been your experience, I'm sorry. Personally, I think we have less of a feeling of superiority than do most evangelicals, but that's just me.

I stayed with a Mormon family in Snowflake, Arizona one time and have to say they were very hospitable...feeding me, allowing me to crash on the couch, and not once did they proselytize. The mother only told me to leave because her son and I were loafing around too much and she wanted to him to work. Can't blame her on that one! Man, how i've grown???
