I didn't see anyone lumping any group together. The book specifically targets the religious right. Seeing how many people on this forum alone believe that the US was founded on biblical principles, I'd say that such views aren't as extreme as you might think. Furthermore, knowing what extremists are up to - any extremists - is hardly a waste of time.
