Or maybe we're tired of marketing campaigns by companies falling all over themselves to patronize the new media darlings.
Doesn't it get old? Don't you realize that these companies simply see you as a new market that can be tapped into? That they think of gay people as nothing more than a way to make a buck? That if they act like they care, you'll go them in droves? They're using you.
That is how capitalism works, if you don't like it maybe you should move to a socialist country.
Does that sound familiar?
As somebody with political beliefs that are probably far to the left of your beliefs I've heard that again and again.
Companies market to many different groups. Why does it bother you so much that they now show gays in those ads too? Yes gays exist. Yes gays buy cars, and houses, and cereal, and beer, and washing machines, and house hold cleaners. Why wouldn't gays be included in the marketing of those products?
I guess I find it patronizing. You don't? I also have the same view of companies that pander to conservative Christians in the same way.

But they're being seen!
And heard!
And depicted as normal human beings with hopes and dreams like everyone else!!
And in Fundyville - where bliss is just another dose of ignorance away - that's just wrong.

You find it patronizing for people to be in commercials? Do you think that commercials should just be images of the item being sold? PEOPLE use those items, and if people can see themselves using those items they are more likely to buy them. It's basic marketing.
I think part of the issue some have with commercials involving gays is that it signals acceptance by much , or most , of society. Advertising companies are rarely going to risk alienating large segments of the buying public. The willingness of some to appeal to homosexuals shows that it is not a dangerous ploy to do so , and this realization infuriates some that oppose homosexuality. It is perhaps the best evidence that they have lost the battle. Their kids , by and large , do not hate or oppose homosexuality , and now they even appear in commercials on regular TV stations selling goods to regular people .
If gays just want live their lives, I have no problem with that, but that's not reality. Reality is that especially now with political power, they feel the need to rub it in our face especially with all the rainbow garbage. Now I can't even eat Doritos chips without the rainbow marketing. I can't watch tv without the media celebrating homosexuality as if it was some big achievement. The first gay NFL player! Funny that gays complain about discrimination through separation when they do a big job of making themselves separate and letting everyone know it. How about celebrating someone for their talents and abilities, not their sexuality?
How about you live and let live? Stop trying to stuff gay people back into the closet. We celebrate the success of minorities who have overcome adversity, the first black president, the first woman to go into space, and yes the first gay NFL player. Overcoming adversity is a big achievement, Jeff.

Yep.
It enrages fundamentalists seeing their most hated sinners being treated as Joe and Jane Person.
And their impotent bellowing is music to those who don't worship a mouldy book.
