I think the OP is being far too literal. Personally, I've never heard the expression "old turd", although I've referred to a young person a "little turd" or "little sh*t", just to express my complete and utter disgust with them. "Old fart" to me is not really meant to indicate disgust, but more as a half-jest about their cranky, old school ideas or habits. There are plenty of other terms for oldsters all preceded by the word old...coot, geezer, buzzard, bitty, bat, witch, hag, crone, etc.
The snoring thread prompted me to ask this question. OP refers to "old retired turds."
Why do so many people use disgusting fecal terms for Old people?They even say it about themselves. I've heard people in their 40's refer to themselves as "old farts."
Understand, it's not the crudeness of the terms that offends me. I laugh at a funny bathroom joke same as the next guy. What bugs me is the underlying sense that Old people are being compared, and comparing themselves, to bodily functions. No other group that I know of, does this.
Well it was me who used that term and I apologize and ask for forgiveness for anyone I offended. Something said that would create a deep belly-laugh in one person would clearly offend another. I'll be more mindful that there are some sensitive people here and save my rough-around-the-edges comments at forums where such comments and terms can be taken in stride.

::::sigh:::: I'm very fond of "rough around the edges" comments and usually find humor in them. Some would do well to get over themselves. It makes life so much more enjoyable and eliminates the need to always be on edge lest someone might take offense. But then, I never pretended to be politically correct despite working in politics for 20 years..
I am reminded of an old Burt Reynolds movie. The Stunt Man thing, I believe, where Burt's character and the young apprentice, are sitting somewhere drinking and an old cop comes up to them, and of course, gets disrespected.
The apprentice says, "Yeah, you old fart" and later repeats "You old Fart" as they are passing him on the road.
In the editing for the TV version, "fart" was changed to "fool" so now the comments are "You old fool."
So, my thought was, "which would I, when I get to be old, find more offensive?"
Well, honestly, I would be much more offended by some pipsqueak little turd calling me an old fool, than an old fart.
In fact the last bar fight I was in was up at the Dark Horse in Boulder, where that is exactly what happened.
That young man will think twice about calling an elderly gentleman and old fool, I bet.
My wife says I am getting much to old for that sort of shenanigans, anymore, so she restricted my drinking to the VFW, where the young fellas still have respect for us Old Farts.

You have never heard young people referred to as being full of "p iss and vinegar"?
Maybe its because many old people have incontinence issues? But seriously, it's just a saying and I can't imagine anyone is concerned about it. At your age, assuming you are old, you should have long ago learned to not worry what others think.
