I'm sorry to read of the passing of Curmudgeon. I always remembered him for the name. Escort Rider was really a tough one, he was such a good guy. Robyn as well, very helpful posters.

Curmudgeon and I often disagreed. However, his posts were informative and he had much to say.

I'm only fifty-nine, but have learned much here reading and posting on this forum. I admit its getting a little hard for me. I corresponded privately on any number of occasions with Escort Rider, Robyn55, and even a time or two with NewEnglandGirl. I began posting here on CDF in 2009. What a difference a decade makes. In that time, I've also lost both my parents and a mother-in-law. Time marches on, but sometimes it moves way too fast.

We are the same age. When I read a man dies at 72 and was ready to go as his post clearly indicate you really hear the clock ticking. Sucks for me as I'm kind of not happy with my job any longer and look forward to retirement. But who at our age wants the clock to move faster? That's crazy.

Agree 60.5 here and ready to retire but in past year I have had two friends in their upper 60s come down with terminal situations it does make you think about your ticking clock.

Curmudgeon died in June of last year; he would have been 72 two months later in August.
As I'm getting older, 71 does seem young to be knowingly living your final weeks and months on earth.

Do you also go to funerals and memorial services and insist on telling all the mourners that regardless of what they heard there, not everyone liked or even cared for the deceased?

So there won't be any remission for me and it looks like the cancer will get me after all.

Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts. I can still use more of them too.

Please don't forget me.

I met NewEnglandGirl/Riverbird once. She lived back where I used to live so when I went back to see an old friend, we arranged to meet for coffee. Turned out we had so much in common that we talked for hours. Our river is the Connecticut River and it's really important in the lives of everyone who lives near it.

Apparently she was an accomplished artist, writer, and teacher, but I never knew it until her obituary. We had lived in the same city when we were kids and remembered a lot of the same things. I was going to contact her again but I didn't get the chance when I went back again to where I used to live. Then I found out she would have been on her deathbed at that time and wasn't seeing anyone. I guess that's one time I'm glad I left well enough alone and didn't try to get in touch. She only wanted the privacy of her immediate family in her last few months.

RIP, all Eternal Members. We miss you.
