I looked up the company that supplied the meals from the info on the box. Forgot the name already, but reading the promises of quality, healthy, attractive meals for all tastes and dietary issues and then looking at what they actually send you will give you a big laugh.
FINALLY! Someone who "gets it" - yes, exactly what I got. And I had the same comments as you - prison food would be better. They all went into the garbage. This stuff would not nourish anyone.

I just looked at "Mom's Meals" website and the meals you get when you self pay are quite bit different than the ones you get if you are on medicaid. They have 3 different meal plans; medicaid, medicare and self pay. https://www.momsmeals.com/our-food/

So they ARE tailored to one's health conditions. Thought so.

yes and if you are used to salt, fat, sugar and lots of spices - you might not like them.

We basically stopped using salt some years ago.

Yes, I suspected that would be the case. And I eat Whole Foods plant based, so there would be nothing for me. I am so grateful I can cook and afford to buy my own meals.

We went to WHOLE FOODS the other day and tried it again since we recently got Amazon prime .

There was very little we actually liked the second attempt. and even with the 10% discount things were over priced .

We tried the soups , cole slaw , chicken salad , rice from veggies , and few other things .

Most prepared foods lacked taste …

Fish counter was way over priced.

Surprisingly there was very little for my wife that could be even called low sodium whether anything they made or snacks.

Likely our last time using wholefoods

I did some more reading about the moms meals you get with an Advantage plan and there wouldn't be anything I could eat. Being allergic to dairy products, there's nothing. I guess that's just as well if they don't taste very good anyway. (I don't know why every place has to put cheese in everything. Not that I don't love cheese, but when you can't have it, it spoils the whole dish for you.)

If I got released from a hospital and couldn't cook, our town's senior services has volunteer shoppers who will take your grocery list and go and get food for you. I'd pick some of the better quality frozen meals (like Amy's) and get enough for a few weeks if needed. Door dash is always sending me free offers because they "miss me" LOL so I guess I could have them race around and get me some good stuff too. And in this little town there's only one really good restaurant but they deliver!

I had meals on wheels twice, in two different towns. One town had pretty good food. The meals in the other town were disgusting. So much is dependent upon where you live.

There are (sadly) probably some older folks who are poor and can't do for themselves who are ok with these, but we are independent and while not wealthy can afford to eat well. My husband helps me prefer simple meals or we get takeout. This crap nourishes no one; although they did include small juice cartons, which are oK

This is stuff no one would even feed to their dog.
You should donate them to a food pantry. Some people like crappy food. Because to them, it's better than not eating at all.

I "donated" them to my garbage can.

One of my daughters neighbors was giving the box to my daughter at one time, most got thrown out. The kids did eat some of them. I think the ones they gave her were from medicaid. They look unappetizing to me. The Banquet TV dinners for $1.50 look better.
