That may be, but it's all too hot for me. I never noticed a difference going from Lincoln to Roseville or Old town Sacramento. I think, for me, once it gets over 90 I'm not going to notice the difference. It all feels miserable.

Reality is, a 30/40 degree temperature swing is too extreme in 24 hour period. Not great weather for most folks, IMO.
Carpinteria has great mild weather...

Sacramento, not so much...

The TRUTH and FACTS make a GOOD SALES PITCH and that is what I've presented in this very long thread.

Overall, on the average, Sacramento summer weather is very comfortable not only at 9am and 9pm but ALL morning long from 5am to 4pm, and from 8pm until 5am. Does Sacramento stay mild all day long as most of the California coast in the summer, no, but it is still comfortable most hours in the day.

In a dry climate, a 30-40 degree swing is a very good thing in SACRAMENTO (Summer Average is 58F to 92F)

5am(morning run) to 10am(late outdoor breakfast) - 58F to 70F - cool, mild and comfortable

10am to 3pm - 70F to 85F - comfortable outdoor run or walk in the park, nice outdoor lunch

3pm to 7pm - 85F to 92F - still comfortable, stay in the shade, A/C kicks in for 1-3hours

7pm to Midnight - 92F to 73F - dramatic cool down, great pool, river and lakeside weather, A/C goes off.

Midnight to 5am - 73F - 58F - dramatic cool down for the house, A/C OFF all night long. Night owls enjoy cool and mild, and t's just nice knowing it's still not in the 90's, 80's or 70's late at night as in places like PHX, Vegas, Fresno, or Austin; things really COOL off in Sacramento when you've had several hours in the low 60's to high 50's.

Above is the typical average over the course of 3 months of summer, during a heat wave when the temps is 100 to 105F you can add 5-10 degrees after 1pm(afternoon) BUT you still have the cool and mild hours in the morning, evening and night.

Keep in mind , 100F to 105F is really a heat index of 96F to 101F in Sacramento because of our dry 5-20% humidity level during the warmest time of the day. Same with a temp from 90F to 95F......that's really a heat index temp in the high 80's.

The coastal media may "sensationalize" a 3 day heat wave in Sac of temps above 100F, but they won't tell you about the 15 days of heat index temps in the 80F that we had just before that.

I will rattle your cage one more time. I never hear much from media about Sacramento weather, only what comes from family and friends complaining about summer heat. Your local news seems to due a pretty good job covering the weather.... example...Sacramento triple-digit heat streak ending but 100-degree days adding up | The Sacramento Bee
The Delta breeze is Sac's saving grace. And proximity to cooler summer temps. at Lake Tahoe and San Fransisco, LOL.

I mentioned coastal media but that doesn't mean most media, including our own media. The best weather media in Sacramento is Channel 3, next Channel 10. The worst Channel 40, absolutely the worst Channel 13. The Sacramento Bee sadly like most newspapers are desperate for any kind of readership.

Heat that Sacramento Never Experiences and hopefully never will:

June 2016

Phoenix:
12 days the nightly/morning temps stayed in the 80's!!!
6 days the nightly/morning temps stayed in the 90's!!!
Thats 18 nights and morning that were totally and absolutely miserable, coupled with triple digit heat
Not a single day dropped below 76F - all 30 days were uncomfortable

Sacramento:
All 30 mornings and nights were comfortable and cool - 50's and 60's.

Phoenix:
10 days of 110F plus!!
19 days of 105F plus!!

Sacramento:
Not one day broke 104F

So the next time someone says its get to 104F in Sacramento and thinks we are like the Southwest, or Desert put it in perspective, that's not an accurate assessment of Sacramento weather.

Central Valley weather is not all the same. How is it different?

June 2016

Cool evenings, nights, and mornings

Sacramento - all 30 days cooled to 65F and below - This is where Sacramento is more like the Bay Area, Seattle and Portland in the middle of summer than any other metro in the USA.

Fresno - Only 11 days cooled to 65F or below.

Number of Days that the high temp did not rise above the 70's or 80's (cool to mild):

Sacramento - 16 days - half the month, double the days of Fresno

Fresno - 8 days - 3 weeks the temps were in 90's or 100's.

Days of 100F+

Sacramento - 6 days, only 1 day if you go by heat index

Fresno - 14 days (2weeks), almost half the month, 7 days if you go by heat index

*My earlier post was a typo; should have been 5-10 degrees average difference between Sac and Lincoln. (not a 15 average difference)

5 Day Forecast:

Sacramento - Highs temps in the mid to high 80's, lows in the mid 50's to upper 50's.

Lincoln - Highs temps in the low 90's; lows temps in the upper 50's to low 60's

Lincoln - 5-8 degrees warmer than Sacramento

(Heat index forecast: the mid's 80's for highs in Sac)

No, it's NOT 100+ everyday in the summer in Sacramento like coastal people think.
