Hi-We will be moving from Brookyn, New York to Placerville at the end of June. Has anyone moved cross country lately and/or knows of a moving company that they would recommend? Thanks alot for any input or advice.

I am moving from NJ to Sacramento and pulled 3 rate. I stayed with the bigger names and got a good deal from Allied....about $6.5K...though I did not move yet.

That's a great rate! Is that for a house? We'll be doing the same thing from Milwaukee as soon as our house sells.

We went with Mayflower when I moved from Staten Island to Pleasant Hill, Ca. It was over 10yrs ago though, and I was only 18. The only thing I remember was that they unloaded our stuff in Florida somewhere to have another truck pick it up to take to another state, where it was unloaded again. Not sure if this is how all cross country movers operate. So of course, we had some broken items with all the moving off and on the truck.
