No worries about the name...
I haven't been to Maddox in years. It was really good! Kind of disconcerting, though, to sit at a table overlooking land where your meal was grazing.

I went to Maddox over the last 2 years. A few years ago it was indeed excellent, but frankly I think they've gone downhill. I didn't even care for their pie this last time around. If I want a good steak that doesn't cost an arm and leg I'll go to Outback Steakhouse. Better meat and service as well. The Texas Roadhouse isn't half bad either....more consistent than the LoneStar. My new favorite however is out in Draper. It is called GoodWood. Some of the best barbecue in Utah and fairly priced. I prefer to go early however as the kid brigade comes out by 6pm and you can't even hear yourself think with all the screaming and commotion. Another nice restaurant is Cafe Trio up in Cottonwood Hts. No brats there to deal with. Moderate prices too.....

Maddox has perhaps the best fried chicken on the planet of Utah. There was definitely some grazing action going on close by also.

They have dinner rolls that are incredibly good also...funny what sticks out in a restaurant.

You must have had a different experience than I at Maddox. The rolls were dry and tasteless, the steak was overcooked, dry and tough, the salad was the unacceptable and nutritionless iceberg lettuce, and to top it off the pie was no better than one I'd get out of the grocery freezer. So they are OFF my list. If you want REAL fried chicken there's a cute little place famous for it in Wanship. The "Famous Spring Chicken Inn". But sorry, I think Maddux has seen it's better days and it's prices are crazy for what you get.......

Now if you really want a good steak -- and are ready to mortage your house to pay for it -- try Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Probably has the same pricing that I have heard La Caille has. Heard that the menu states "financing available" for the lobster.

Yeah, I have been to Ruth's Chris and you're absolutely RIGHT. Their steak is in another zip code from others I've had. I had their Rib Eye, with a side ceasar (everything is side or extra there) and a side of mashed potatoes and a iced tea. The bill was around $65.00 and that was just for ME. So yeah, it is for special occasions....but they most certainly DO deliver the goods.....

On another note however a inexpensive complete dinner (with some truly yummy rolls that melt in your mouth) is at that Texas Roadhouse. I've gotten a Rib Eye, Caesar Salad, Potato and rolls for under $20, which ain't half bad. Well prepared and no junky connective tissue to chew through like I've had to deal with at Lonestar. I happen to Looooove the barbecued beef ribs at Goodwood however. One of my favorites. a huge rack, potato, salad and drink there will run about $24.00 and worth every penny. Like I said however (and this applies to the Texas Roadhouse at Southtowne as well) if you're not into a screaming bunch of brats get there early (prior to 6pm) or bring your earplugs........ it's brutal........
