No, it doesn't require phone service, or any upgrades, or a bundle to get the promotion. I got the Showtime promotion with no other purchase or upgrade necessary.
I suspect aj007 got connected to a "bad" CSR or a CSR who wasn't knowledgeable regarding the promotion.

Well I called in this morning after I decided to give it another try and was able to get the upgrade with no additional charge and best of all she did not push a "great money saving" deal.

Seems like you got the same CSR I got yesterday..call again grneyedmustang, to be honest it only bought them time for me to shop around for a better deal.

Just signed up. You do have to make sure to cancel before the year is up in order to avoid a $14.99 monthly fee. I only have cable service, they offered phone service but i declined it.
