Ya know...might be a pain in the A$$ but can also save ya some time and trouble....about a month ago our son went to Walmart late one evening with a friend...had NO idea he had left his wallet. Sound asleep the next morning about 11am when NFCU called him and asked him if he had made 3 "less than $50 purchases at a Walmart in the last 30 minutes...it was then (and ONLY then!) that he scrambled out of bed to find his wallet missing....and his Credit Union IMMEDIATELY closed out that debit card.

I suppose it can be a pain, but when you are on the other end of the coin...some folks appreciate it! God only knows when he would have figured out he had lost this debit card vs just "misplaced" it.

No, it's not MY OWN money - it's borrowed money. Borrowed from the bank. So, I guess they can set up rules who, how, where and how much can spend of THEIR money. They are in banking business not in charity.
Like I said, I didn't had any problems with the card in Houston, no call was necessary. But when I go overseas, then yes, I will call them (any credit card company I deal with) and let them know that there would be some charges - it's actually mainly for my protection, and I am happy with that.

I'll add myself to the long list of those in the USAA camp. I've been with them for over 10 years, and never had any problems.

My main points was defended by some posters.... SACU has a problem if you leave your city.. Most of our travel is within the great state of TX, but it is declined outside of SA because of the fear of Fraud! And they say they cant do anything to help you???????? Is that acceptable customer service????
Nope, therefore I give a big thumbs down to SACU!!

I will, maybe something changed in the policy? I had sacu when I moved to Sandusky, ohio back in 02-03. The banks up there (us bank) were ridiculous with their charges and fees. So I would deposit my money to my sacu account, it would take a few days longer but I was able to use my card, also I though it would be fun to take the greyhound bus back and stop in chicago and memphis (which was fun, but not the greyhound experience) for a few days on my way back to texas and used my sacu debit card there as well with no problems.
