It's great. It's super easy to use and it seems to be rock-solid. The fact that unlimited viewing with it is free with a Netflix subscription is icing on the cake.

The only drawback, IMO is the small subset of content that Netflix makes available for the thing. I would estimate that only about 10 percent of the Netflix library is available for instant viewing. Of course the Netflix library is vast, so there are still over 10,000 videos available to view on this. To get the most out of it, you have to be willing to dig into the library and look for shows/movies to watch.

yeah, their content is hurting when it comes to the instant watch choices. It is good for pulling up old stuff and also checking out a lot of strange things you never knew existed, especially in the horror section.
one day I'll get one, but I'm about to spend almost $1000/day over the next week..

Alaskan cruise.
and that was taking the cruise cost and airfare and spreading them across a week mostly. We've already actually spent most of the money.

Scratch that... he dropped it... liked the recommendations, but was unimpressed with the lineup and PQ for his bandwidth... and the price.

Personally, I loved netflix, for the 1st free month; 30 days and 12 DVDs down, and i cancelled it like it was hot (not).

The Roku is kinda cool though, but probably wouldn't appeal to a techie person.

Please forgive my ignorance but...
Is this "capping" the same as a Fair Access Policy? I've had Hugesnet for years and they've always had a FAP. It is not monthly - it is daily. A 200MB download threshold is allowed every 24 hrs. If you go over that you can still surf and download but you are "punished" for 24 hours with extremely slow speeds. I went over once when the threshold was 100 MB/24 hours but I was not billed for going over - just the slowdown for a day. I don't know what happens to repeat offenders.

I gave up the whole pay per usage thing when I gave up dialup. I have phone/tv/internet with TWC. As soon as they try to start making me stay within a certain monthly usage is when I will dump all three services and head elsewhere. They have every right to change their policies and I have every right to go somewhere else. Which is exactly what I will do.

What will you do when all providers limit useage...which is probably what will happen in time?

One ISP will offer higher caps than the other. People will switch, so the rest will have to top the other company's offer to stay competitive.

Companies have to give their customers what they want. If the current ISPs won't do it, someone else will step into the game. TWC and the rest need us more than we need them.

I just don't see that many people even coming close to these caps. Some will, but most won't. The poster said that if they even try to institute a cap..he's switching. Switching to what? Another cap?
