My favorite part of this forum is when posts are taken completely out of context.

Happen to know a lot of Austinites, and none of them view San Antonio as a "mini-Austin." Don't think I need to mention city or metro sizes...

I haven't seen this among native Austinites, but I have come across transplants and relatives who have never been to Texas who don't know that San Antonio is bigger. Oftentimes, I'll read articles and posts by people who don't know much about Texas, and they'll only mention Dallas, Houston, and Austin as if those are the largest cities.

San Antonio is at #6 on Forbes list of cities creating high-wage jobs. Austin is at #3 and Dallas at #5. Texas is representing.

Default Extremely Interesting Statistic from Forbes,

So much for the opposing theory of the local econ. around here. It isn't always only call center jobs.

San Antonio's tech industry is a $15 billion economic driver and is not much smaller than Austin's $21.5 billion tech sector. San Antonio's giant industry is the Dept of Defense at nearly $50 billion followed by Healthcare-Bio-medicine $30-$40 billion.

Jobs in these sectors are not low paying.

San Antonio has a strong economy and is no longer considered a low wage city.

Defense. Military. Not civilian. If you don't fit those categories you're out.

Your wrong.

We would not be gaining over 50k people a year for low paying jobs. (Austin grows at about 55k a year)

San Antonio is in cybercrime Austin is in tech innovation. If nothing else our cities complement each other.
