Anyone remember the kress stores downtown, I remember when I was younger I bought man baseball cards at the store on Houston.

What about Scriveners? That was the best store in the WHOLE world...I miss the tearoom!

One of my regrets is that I never been to Malibu Grand Prix and I've had a chance to go there for one of my birthdays but I think I went to Diversions instead.

Malibu was the bomb. I remember playing Crossbow there for the first time. But my personal favorite was the place on Walzem by the military recruiters, behind Taco Bell. I think it was Bally's or something. I spent hundreds of dollars there playing Shinobi, Street Fighter, Crime Fighters, Bad Dudes, Dynamite Duke, Ninja Gaiden, Superman and Ninja Turtles.

I was there for the last christmas a few years ago and the place still had its spark, its sad that its gone.

Does anybody remember the Shangri La Restaurant downtown? I think they were located on Broadway, one block north of Houston Street. They had great Chinese food in the early 1970's and most of the employees only spoke Chinese.

I never went in it but I do remember it because the name reminded me of the Flinstones vacationing at Shangri-la-di-da.

Yeah, Bonanza was GREAT...How about "The Sizzler!" They always had that big steer on wheels out front. We used to go to the one on Bandera @ 410.

There used to be a great hot dog place downtown, "Coney Island Hot Dogs."
It was on S. St. Mary's Street, one or two blocks off Houston Street. Ever try that place? They had the best hot dogs in town!! For some reason they moved to Broadway near Brackenridge Park in the late 80's but ended up closing within two years. Sad...
