Hee hee. Was either a rather large young man, with a beard, septum piercing, enormously gauged ears, and heavily tattooed?

I believe Sandbar's problem is the manager. He was odd and a bit pretentious at the previous location, but the place was so small it was entertaining and didn't matter. The new spot is too big with too much going on for the same to be acceptable, again.

Here's my US review:

La Gloria Ice House - Midtown - San Antonio | Urbanspoon

It's a new spot. They'll fix things. Hopefully they can learn a lesson from SandBar, who continues to foul up what should be something timeless and relatively straight-forward. BAD SERVICE = DEATH IN THE SA RESTAURANT INDUSTRY.

as I hinted in my earlier post, the food was serviceable but lacked authentic flavor. If they could get it right, I would eat there frequently.

Al Pastor should resemble this: http://www.psp.gatech.edu/fleet/sites/LBAT_09/Wharton,%20Kate/LBAT%20PICS/tacos-al-pastor.jpg (broken link)

Instead theirs looks pale and tastes like flavorless tenderloin.

If you want to try BJ's on the cheap, they are trying their menu for free this week, at the new RIM location. I was there Tuesday night and all food was free on a special menu...

Suggested donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Adult drinks not included.

Isn't this reservations/invitation required?

No reservations that I saw, parking lot was full... I went on a whim...

They accidentally put bacon and cheese that was to go on the potato on this salald, but that is the whole point the Staff is learning.. We had a $20 tab for the beers but the food was free..

Hmph. I have been trying to change my reservation for the soft opening, but they have been 'booked solid'.

The cheese and bacon mix up is funny. I can imagine the waiter on the computer, putting in you order thinking "Man, I know cheese and bacon was supposed to go on something..."

I was there again tonight, just go, they had plenty of seating, or set at the bar. We had a party of 4 with no reservations and got a table in the bar area.
