So quick intro: Young, professional family with a baby, planning on moving to SD area, in a year or so. Trying desperately to narrow our search. Top Criteria: Budget Minded (300,000 - 450,000) Don't want to be too inland or too isolated from SD. Good schools, community, kinda area most people would agree is a nice place to live. Thank you so much for your feedback! It's crazy trying to navigate through all the options. If you know any resource that would make this easier, i appreciate that as well!

Do you have a job lined up yet? Read the other threads on this same subject, and you should find answers to your questions. Also, that budget isn't going to get you anywhere.

Check this thread out. It's a long shot.

Also, use SDLOOKUP to narrow down your search by region and neighborhood/town.

As others have mentioned, that budget will be tough - even the top end of it may not get you what you are looking for. Definitely read through all the many threads about people wanting to move to San Diego and it will give you an idea of what you'll be up against. I'm not trying to be discouraging - I was in the same place you are a couple years ago!

Too far inland, and isolated from San Diego.

Thanks for the feedback. We plan on living in an apartment initially and then hope to buy a home once we find a place we like...we might be able to increase our budget to 500,00+ if our salaries increases as well.

Carmel Valley is nice - but if you go to a real estate site and put in that your maximum is 500K, there are minimal results. That is a pricey area.
