i think sd is definitely the best socal has to offer. the firdt time i was in camp pendleton(only 2 wks), my focus was north to la. cali struck me as a place that's fub to visit, but i wouldn't want to live there. now, i'm in sd at the Marine recruit depot for about 2 months. I'm subtropical coastal nc guy, so the weather is cold to me. i also don't like how every day is the same. my living is gov't subsidized being military but i understand the cost issue. i came from quantico in N VA. sd is slightly more expensive. that said it's beautiful here with a billion things to do, places to go. all while having a relaxed laid back atmosphere.

I am trying to figure out why this is , in that I would like to consider moving to Florida but will not exchange a safer environment and better police response for a bigger newer house no matter where it is. Why is most of San Diego rated very low on crime compaired to the national averages?
One site I looked at is city ratings dot come but I used other data as well ans they all support what I just mentioned.
I lived in and around Orlando, Florida for ten years and returned to NY in 1993, and even then, Tampa had a lot of crime. Orlando had over 600 murders last year, I read that it's due to gangs. I'm so happy I moved out of there and returned to NY, the NYC suburbs for the most part are very safe, and the high crime areas are separated from the middle and upper classes, and even with the crime in those neighborhoods, homicides in my city average less that 10 a year, compare that to Orlando!

West Palm Beach was getting terrible when I lived there, and now I read from WPB down to Miami, the crime is still bad.

There must be a problem with the police force in parts of Florida not being able to curb the crime.

Bonsall in N. South Diego County has virtually no crime at all, but i read there are gangs in parts of San Marcos, so you have to do your homework regarding the safety of an area. I think East San Diego has more crime than the other SD areas if I remember correctly.

Good luck.

I completely agree, South OC and Sd are the two best living area's socal has to offer. One thing Like about Irivine it's between Sd and LA I thinks its closer to LA but I think their about the same. I love driving to Sd the ocean on the right and when I get stuck in traffic, I don't need to put on the a/c, I just role down the window lets the constant sea breeze hit my face and it feels great, while I sit back drive and listen to 106.7 or K-rock!

You'd make a great mod. I like your post., It's good to see someone rep their area well and not bash the other.

California should then be also given back to Mexico. You'd vote for Texas being given back? Florida to Cuba? Why stop with those two? How about Colorado (among a few others) going back to Mexico, why not Louisiana going back to France?

Enough with the holier than thou Cali attitudes toward the Lone Star State which is currently accepting STREAMS of Cali refugees.

No, not everything should be "given back." Just Florida and Texas. It was a joke, kind of. I think you're taking it a wee bit too seriously.
