I had my first Mexican food experience in Seattle at Rancho Bravo in Capitol Hill. I ordered the Rancho Burrito with chicken. The chicken was extremely salty and had this weird bitter flavor that lingered. Keep in mind I do love cilantro and do not possess the gene that causes cilantro to taste like soap. I reluctantly ate half of it, but I just couldn't finish it in spite of being hungry. I was surprised that the burrito was barely edible, as the place has a 4 star review on Yelp and a few people have told me their food is really good. Maybe I just was unlucky and got some old bad chicken? I may give them one more try, but I'd like to find someplace that serves reliably good Mexican food that's at least tolerable. What are your favorite Mexican restaurants in Seattle?

If you want a smaller plate, go to La Carta de Oaxaca.

If you want a larger plate of food, go to Senor Moose.

Both restaurants are in Ballard.

I just ate there last week. Terrific.
Another great one is El Quetzal on Beacon Hill. And the Rosticeria in White Center is terrific, great chicken there.

I haven't had a chance to check out too much Mexican food in Seattle proper (recently moved into town from the suburbs though, so will definitely be trying more), but a nearby regional chain I'm rather fond of is Taqueria El Rinconsito (closest location to Seattle being in Burien, just south of the White Center/West Seattle area). Awesome, cheap tacos, and also open late.

Come to think of it, can you do better for Mexican food than Burien? They've got a ton of good Mexican food there. Tacqueria El Estacion is superb. El Tio is Oaxacan, and great. Rinconsito's great and cheap. They must have 20 places to get tacos within a two mile stretch in Burien, without even counting Taco Time.
