Fogaust? Seriously? Also June is not a summer month on the west coast due to seasonal lag. September is more summery than June everywhere on the west coast.

Not typical for sure, but not entirely out of the norm either. While these western ocean storms are common most of the year, they rarely occur in July and August. Another argument for climate change? Or perhaps just an aberration. I wouldn't judge this event as tremendously unlikely, even though we have not seen it in recent decades.

Agreed. September can be quite nice and with this slow start of summer this year, I would expect we will see a very warm August and September. August has very little fog. Late September is the beginning of the fog season and it usually lasts through December. Ask hundreds of thousand Sea-Tac passengers about fog delays.

IMHO, weather and climate are always, and will always, be a little variable. This is one of those times.

Based on our 25 years here, I would say that both July (after 7/4) and August are usually very much the same, neither is hotter than the other. In fact, July 5-August 31 is usually the same every day, sunny and warm but not real hot, just low 80s. My favorite time is early September when it starts to cool, and usually stays dry before the rain starts mid-late in the month.

Last week of July and first week of August is the hottest and driest on record. It's when the all-time record was recorded - July 29th.

Last few years the highest temperatures of the summer were recorded in June. 2017 saw 96F in late June. This year June hit 95F. In 2013, the highest temperature of 93F was recorded in June and one more time in September.

I think it was the summer of 93 or 95.

On the east slope we thought we were in for a horrible fire year. Then every two weeks a system would clear the Cascades and it would rain on the east slopes.

Never had a fire season. Nice summer. I ended up working ONE fire.....as a favor to a fellow employee that had to take her kid while working the fire. Couldn't find a babysitter.....so I took over for her.

I would love to see another year like that......
