This is the time of year that I am so grateful to be a Jew.

I'm not impressed. I'm the person who avoids big box stores and malls as if they're the plague between Black Friday and the week after New Year's! Whatever money I'd save on an electronic device or those fuzzy socks isn't worth the hassle of driving around fighting for a parking space, huddling in the cold darkness for hours with a bunch of other yahoos, and then sprinting to the appropriate section once the doors open. No thanks; I can do without the madness! Besides, I have to work on Black Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. None of this has ever looked interesting or attractive.

Quite a few stores are open on Thanksgiving now. So you can actually shop on Thanksgiving Day while your turkey is in the oven, I guess.

I actually cannot go out and shop Thanksgiving night, I don't care who is selling what Chinese made junk cheaply.
Fact is, by Thanksgiving evening, I will be far too drunk to drive anywhere.

I work in retail now. I'll have to go to bed no later than 6 PM on Thanksgiving as I need to be at the store no later than 3:30 am on BF. So much for my 'day off'. I hope this is my last year.

Who is stopping you from celebrating any holiday the way you want to celebrate it? Don't like to shop on or after Thanksgiving? Don't.

I am not and no one is stopping me. Jsut being an American and expressing my opinion and rights to celebrate as I like

I will spend Thanksgiving day quietly with my family and whichever neighbors drop in

I will put a traditional meal out around 1, start feeding everyone who comes by, frineds and neighbors who drop in to sample our food and eats.
we will watch football on TV

The grownups will drink
and drink
and drink

The kids will play and have fun, go off to bed, the grownups will go to bed when the wine runs out

Friday I will get up and hit the stores, although more out of curiosity than need, as my Christmas shopping is almost all done thanks to Amazon and Ebay

I will have to be available Friday afternoon for emergencies, but afterwards, I can relax and then Saturday start decorating for Christmas.

There is no consumer good that I would stand in line for at 3.00 am. Free gold, I suppose, would be the exception.
