The Vermont Country Store has them. It's expensive but they specialize in things you can't get anymore. I got mine cheaper on ebay--UNopened sheets from the 1980s. I typed in vintage cotton percale twin sheet--and sometimes I typed in one of the old brand names like Springdale. They arrived and are beautiful. It was funny to open something from that long ago that was still in the sealed package. I got a set of yellow top sheet and fitted and another fitted sheet in a pretty bluish and pinkish rabstract rainbow type of color.

Don't get fooled by "mostly cotton" or "no iron percale" because if it's no iron then it probably contains polyester. You want the kind of 100% cotton made in USA sheets that they had before polyester came out. If you see NIP that means New in Package, never even opened. They are out there, probably sheets that someone bought but never got around to opening. And you don't want muslin, you want the percale weave that's strong and smooth and crisp.

Walmart has Hotel Egyptian cotton - Queen for $38.40. Can anyone comment on Egyptian sheets? I saw in a movie, a young lady was raving crazy over Egyptian sheets. I wouldn't think about opening a package in the store to feel the fabric
You don’t have to rip the package open to feel it, those sheets come in a zippered package you could just unzip it a little bit and feel it.

I am not much of a sheet snob anymore given my age and my budget. For the last few years I have purchased 100% cotton 300 thread count sheets from a big box store, and they have served me well for the price point. I reckon they last me about a year before they start to weaken and tear. This is with weekly washings in HOT water with a quality detergent.

I used to change my sheets every four days, but now I do it once per week due to the cost of water, electricity, and detergent. It probably helps my sheets last a little longer, too. Anyway, the upshot is I can find these sheets on sale fairly regularly for a very decent price. I do not buy them in sets, either. I buy the top and bottom sheets separately because I found they wear out at different rates. This method has worked well for me, but your mileage may vary of course.

Is not Costco a membership store?

Yes, I thought it was like Sam's Club. The fees are not worth it for me either. I once split a membership with someone, though, to give it a try. In the end, even splitting the membership was not worth it for me. There is just not enough at these stores that I would buy or buy often.

I guess they might be worth it for large families but certainly not for a single.

These sheets are fabulous. They have envelope-style pillowcases, and even little tags on the sheets to indicate head/foot direction. I love them.

Low thread count is usually cooler, and of course pure cotton.

There were some soft and pretty sheets at an AirBnB we visited recently. After sweating all night, I checked the label; polyester. We swapped them out with the sheets we travel with for that very reason.
