Because it makes calling your domestic winners ''World Champions'' a joke

Furthermore ESPN is not the world wide leader in sports. All they talk about is domestic activity.

Oh God, THIS again?

They're called "World Champions" because they're the top leagues of their respective sports. Notice how the MLS champions are called "MLS Cup Champions" because obviously, it's not the only (definitely NOT the top) league in soccer.

And for as much criticism ESPN deserves, they DO cover sports outside of the country, just not as much.

Good lord, why the complaining over something that small?

Also ESPN is truly a worldwide leader in sports. They have a presence in many countries and each country caters to the particular sports palate of that country. In the US, we have the big 4, NASCAR and others. In Australia, they would have Aussie Rules Football, Rugby (Union and League) and Cricket and others. In Argentina they would have soccer and rugby union and others. In France they would have soccer, rugby, and handball among others and so forth. They are truly worldwide as they are a worldwide entity which covers the entire sporting world in one way (and/or place) or another. A lot of foreigners really need to **** because they are spewing incorrect BS.

ESPN does not show Aussie Rules in Australia.

Australian Rules Footy has its own 24 hour channel, (on paytv) plus games shown on FTA - as well as at least one talk show aired every night of the week (across many channels)

ESPN shows NFL, NBA, & baseball, some European Football (soccer), international Rugby and for some reason, poker.

We all make mistakes. Read it again. I don't care where they show it. You totally misread it.

No, you don't get it just like you didn't get my last comment. It is a competent skill of mine and it's far greater than your reading skills.

Which is why USA has won the World Baseball Classic, right?

There is no guarantee that Major League Baseball is the top league. And what about Hockey? I have even larger doubts that NHL necessarly has the top league

Your reasoning is true and false in some cases. The main reason why USA sports use the title ''World Champion'' is because many Americans like to think they are the only nation on the planet.

Take a look at ESPNs yearly list of ''Best Athletes in History''. It's always loaded with Americans like no other countries even engage in athletics. The ignorance and xenophobia is sad.

The World Baseball Classic was born out of the idea of another international competition because baseball was voted out of the 2012 Summer Olympics. However, there was a problem at least for the US. It runs concurrently with MLB Spring training hence the USA never really was able to stack their team with the cream of the crop considering that the American players at least would rather gear up for the MLB season for their teams that are paying them millions of dollars than playing for their country. Money > everything else.

NASCAR doesn't only turn left. They have road courses. Remove your head from your arse and try again.
