Save your ignorance for elsewhere.

Seeing as how im pregnant not much I can do. No walking for me because I have preeclampsia. Not like I would wanna walk anywhere here anyways I'd probably be hit by a car.

There is nothing really do to do because everything is outdoors. At least if I wasnt pregnant and I was back home I could snowboard, snowtube, sled, build snowmen, go indoor mini golfing, go indoor golfcarting, go bowling and all of that would be within 10-15 minute of me.

I have yet to come across an interesting festival everything is basically the same every month. However I come from a place where theres basically a DIFFERENT and interesting festival every weekend even in the snow and the only good festivals here are the Strawberry Festival and the Florida State Fair...

The closest things to do around me here are 1. in the ghetto, 2. too cold to go do at the moment.

I also just looked at VISITTAMPABAY.COM and about 90% of what they say to go do in tampa is OUTSIDE. The other 10% is casino, nightclubs, museums and shopping....which you can do at anytime...wish they had something specifically to do when its cold.

So go elsewhere and stop complaining on here. How will doing so help your situation at all?

Why do you have to bring in plants and pets for temps in the 50s?!

FYI -- We're supposed to have lows in the single digits and highs around 20 up here in Atlanta next week. THAT is cold people. You Florida folks are such wimps.

Cheerbaby, Where in NY are you moving to? Do you really think it is going to be better than tampa?

Manhatten is the only place I would consider in NY, but the cost of living is outrageous.

If you live in the ghetto, of course your life is going to suck, what do you expect? it isnt going to be any better in NY.

Tropical plants that are not used to this weather can suffer when the low drops into the 30's which means highs of 50's.

Oh looky! Yet another Tampa thread quickly going off topic and becoming a "Florida Stinks" "No It Doesn't" thread!

It is a bit chilly outside and today its staying chilly through most of the day. With that said, if you have a jacket, sneakers a knit hat/hood and some knit gloves you should be perfectly fine to be outside today. It's chilly but not downright cold.

Today would be a great day for frisbee golf, touch football, bicycling, jogging or any other activity where you are active and your body will warm you up. This feels like a late spring day after a majority of the snow has melted in early May for me.

yes- we hear this all the time. fact of the matter is, most floridians are transplants who CHOSE to live here because we wanted to live in a sub-tropical environment to enjoy the weather, beaches, sunshine, and palm trees. It is not that we are wimps, it is just dissapointing when it gets cold.

MORE IMPORTANTLY- Keep in mind, many of our plants die when it gets cold out. Much of floridas industry/agriculture is based on things like citrus which thrive in the sub tropical climate. When it gets cold, peoples expensive landscaping (which many times is dictated by home owners associations) die, and Floridas economy suffers because agricultural regulations dictate how much citrus and other indigenous plants (like palm trees and plants which are also exported) cant be harvested and shipped fast enough. That is why Florida declares a state-of-emergency when it gets cold.... The SoE lifts agricultural and interstate commerce laws and regulations allowing us to harvest and export things before they die, but many times anywhere we would take them would be colder, or supermarkets then have large quantities of fruits, forcing them to sale the items for dirt cheap, causing them, shipping companies, and farmers to lose money.

Unless you understand Floridian lifestyle and economy, these discussions are best reserved for floridians who have educated themselves on local downfalls of unusually cold weather. It is more then just being a bunch of sissys.

I was never a beach scene person. If I go to a beach it will be to one like Ft.Desoto or Caladesi to hike around not lay on the sand.

I moved to Florida to escape the cold, not for beaches or Disney. I think I was in Florida 5 years before I actually went to Disney but I have still found plenty to do over the last 20 years.

Oh no, you will be painted for life now.

Do you mean you moved to Florida and can survive without the ocean or park?

Some people here believe that people only move to Florida for those reasons.

Guess you are one who has proven those nay sayers wrong.
