As a newbie to the area, I wanted to throw out how much I loved eating at Keegan's in Indian Rocks Beach. They have a great Grilled Grouper Sandwich and Blackened Amberjack, not to mention really good quality Raw Bar items (Oysters for $8.95 a dozen made this Yankee's heart sing!) Very nice waitstaff also.
Best Seafood on the Gulf Beach of Tampa Bay

Can anyone recommend a good non-chain Southern Italian restaurant with homemade sauce? I'm not looking for pizza...rather some good Eggplant Parmigiana, Chicken Cacciatore, Linguine with Red Clam Sauce, etc.

Preferably in Pinellas County..Thanks!

It looks great, I will! It is really difficult finding good Southern Italian restaurants (i.e. not out of a can)

Talking Me Likes Rumba in Clearwater!

I found a great place in Clearwater, called Rumba Island Bar and Grill. It's on the corner of Gulf to Bay Blvd and Keene Rd. I have yet to get a meal I didn't like there. And I've eaten quite a few meals there! (They're way too close to home!)

They have recently enlarged their outside dining patio, which is not always a good thing, but their patio is pretty nice. They have two bars, one inside and one outside on the patio. If you want to go someplace where you will be thinking 'Island Time' without going to the beach, try Rumba!

Have fun!

I've probably already posted on this but my favs change all the time because I find restaurants can be inconsistent, and the best ones can go downhill sometimes maybe due to change of ownership, quality of ingredients, etc.

Bern's Steakhouse (never a let down & I don't eat steak)
Roys (great for chain restaurant) near Intl Mall.
Eclectic Bistro near Intl. Mall
Trang's (consistently good) Vietnamese (huge vegetarian & carnivore menu, have tried half the menu & never ordered a let down meal)
Bombay Masala (excellent Indian on Waters)
Cilantro Indian (USF)
Daily Eats (in S. Tampa)
Ceviches (Tapas in S. Tampa & St Petersburg, I find the one in Sarasota isnt as good)
Grille 116 (in Carrollwood)
Alfresco's (in the Vinoy Renaissance Hotel in St. Petersburg) Casual/tropical/delicious food
Giordano's (Chicago Chain) Excellent deep dish pizza & salads
Brit's (great soft serve/ice cream & British goodies in Carrollwood/Northdale)
D'Lites (great soft serve in S. Tampa & USF)
Mimi's (great breakfast and muffins!)
Hella's Restaurant (Tarpon Springs) Greek food and AWESOME Bakery next door
Mama's (Tarpon Springs) Greek food
Matt & Tonya's (great soft serve/ice cream in Carrollwood)
