Disney world, incredibly underwhelming. Seems like it's barely been updated in 20 years or so, long lines, crowded (and it was April), and not missing one single opportunity to squeeze a dollar from you.
I would be happy to never go back.
I need to hear more posts like this............lol. So that I never "give in" and take our kids there. (Thank GOD they have never really expressed much interest in it).
IF the place was not overrun with tourists (especially Chinese), then I might build our next AZ trip around the Grand Canyon.
But given the reality, it's not looking good.
I enjoy the off the beaten path sights but do like to include some tourist sights as well, but we try to go in the cooler offseason as much as possible. Some places we can't imagine how overrun it would get in the popular summer months.

What does being Chinese have to do with numbers? If it’s crowded, it’s crowded, regardless of nationality.

Go to the Western rim. It's overseen by the Hualapai nation. Very natural, not overrun by tourists because you have to drive a 14-mile hand-picked dirt road through the desert to get to it.
It is more than a big ditch. It is nature in breathtaking glory.

Or go during the offseason. My family visited the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in February, and it was certainly not overrun by tourists. It was a gorgeous sunny day (temperature in the 40's) and we were able to take beautiful photographs along the many viewpoints on the South Rim. There were other people around for sure, but it surely wasn't overcrowded. I love the Grand Canyon.

I wouldn't go between November and April, because we want our winter getaway places to be really warm. But I appreciate the info, and we have not ruled out the Grand Canyon.......Some people are completely underwhelmed and some say it's spectacular. (I visited Waimea Canon in Hawaii and enjoyed that...) We will probably end up doing it our next trip.

Agreed. Several attractions are worth braving the crowds for, and this is one of them. YMMV of course.
