Living in Oregon and family in Napa ca, my picks are 5 from Sacramento to Portland, love the valley where Yreka is and 101 from Santa Rosa to Crescent city..Saw the redwoods with snow on them a year ago...Also I-80 to Cheyene from SF
I'm kind of partial to Hwy 60, which runs thru the Missouri Ozarks. I know it well, so I like to look for my favorite pretty places. My least favorite is Hwy 70 thru central Missouri--it needs to be widened and the big rigs are very dangerous on that stretch.
I love the pix of New Hampshire and Alaska--time for a road trip.
I have not driven the eastern and southern interstates that much so those really aren't in the running for me.
You take I84 east out of Portland along the Columbia River with it on one side and falls along the cliffs on the other is hard to beat. And Mt Hood in view also. Then down into Utah running along the mountain range there is pretty darn nice also.
I70 west of Denver if pretty nice also. Only down fall here is the traffic.
I see some of you have added snoozers to the list. My list of snoozers:
I80 across Nebraska (I hate to say it since I live here but its about as exciting as watching ice freeze) People don't know what they miss, you get off that road and take HWY 20 across the northern part of the state and you will not believe you are in the same state.
I80 across Iowa isn't much better.
I70 across Kansas
I29 through the Dakotas & Iowa leaves a lot to be desired.
I90 once you get out of western South Dakota through Minnesota.
I35 south through Kansas, Oklahoma, into Texas isn't the most breathe taking either.

I-40 from western Oklaoma through to Arizona is dandy too
Kinda, sorta. I-40 west from Oklahoma goes through endless miles of uninhabitable flatlands, especially before you get to Amarillo, and even about 20-30 miles west of Amarillo as well. Its not until you get about 20 miles from New Mexico that it gets semi-decent. Once you get west of Albuquerque its really lovely, even a little before. But then once you get to Gallup it starts to get boooring again. And most of the way between Gallup to Flagstaff is horribly, horribly boring.
My vote in the southwest for the most scenery is I-17 south from Flagstaff to Phoenix. Gorgeous!!!!!
The whole interstate of I-15 is very scenic
Start from San Diego to Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Idaho and Montana to the northern border and you never feel disappointed
Ahhh my husband and I just drove on that interstate through Tennessee, on our way back from North Carolina to Indiana. Stunningly beautiful! We also loved the route we took to Indiana, through West Virginia and Virginia. I think it was the I-64. We even stopped off at the Appalachian trail and hiked a mile (but man was it hot that day...)
