The name of convicted killer Scott Peterson has emerged in another high-profile case: the slaying of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo student Kristin Smart.

A week into a hearing in which a San Luis Obispo County judge will decide whether there is enough evidence to try Paul Flores in the 1996 disappearance and killing of Smart, defense attorneys are making efforts to focus on other potential suspects, including Peterson.

Judge has agreed to hear the case of the juror who apparently lied during jury questioning about her history of abuse.

Hearing set to take place early next year and last about 2 weeks. God, the courts move slowly. This seems an easy decision, that should last a day in court if that. What's your history of abuse, and would a reasonable person have known to disclose that before the trial.

Peterson moves one step closer to new trial:

I still think Peterson is guilty.

Interesting. for years, Peterson's own sister has believed he was guilty.

Scott Peterson's sister speaks out
Anne Bird tells NBC's Matt Lauer about her brother's strange behavior and how she was convinced he killed Laci:

I'm still not buying it....
1. Janey Peterson believes they killed Laci and framed Peterson by disposing of her body 90 miles away in an area where Peterson happened to be fishing at the time
They just happened to pick the exact same place that Scott Peterson had researched the tides? How did they know that?
2. He didn't testify in his own defense... I know if I was innocent of such a horrendous crime, I would have taken the stand.
3. He was on the run to Mexico. DAMNING evidence of guilt - just like OJ was on the run in his Ford Bronco when they were coming to arrest him. Innocent people don't run.

Peterson will not be getting a new trial. Instead, he will be re-sentenced to life without parole at a hearing on October 6th.

Lock him up in a 10x10 cell and throw away the key.
