Absolutely. Him becoming a finalist was a done deal. As for the others, I'm mystified that Barrett made the cut. I don't understand America's fascination with that mediocre country singer. He has no falsetto, a limited range, and his vocal projection leaves a lot to be desired. Hmmmm

And Emily Ann? She's talented, but she and her voice have a lot of growing up to do. So I was surprised at that one too. I thought Shelby had a chance at the finals, but her song choice on Tuesday sounded her death knell. It was a terrible choice; not only slow, but depressing, the exact opposite type of song one would want for a big elimination round. I was not surprised Braiden was eliminated but his accepting and happy attitude nevertheless was nice to see. He acted as if he was going to be just fine, and he will. I was surprised Amy was eliminated. She seemed a favorite but I thought it would be her or Madi right off the bat.

I don't even need to comment on Jordan's performance. It was fantastic. In contrast to other people's opinions, I think he has been a little inconsistent and not always trying his hardest. But he definitely did last night. I predict he or Jeffrey will win, probably him. Jeffrey is my favorite. He sounds like Luther Vandross; always smooth, romantic. His voice is just beautiful. If he makes a CD, I would buy it.

As for the sing for your life performances, Jeffrey blew the others away. I'm really glad he was saved. What was up with Madi's singing then? She sounded very pitchy and weird. I'm not sure what that was about. Maybe she was just nervous.

She usually sounds weird to me. I don't quite understand the love for her here, though she is a nice young girl and has a nice voice when she sings in her normal voice.

Unfortunately she has this weird affectation she uses that I can only describe as sounding a bit like Eliza Doolittle when she says "owwww". This affectation is not new, several young girl singers have had it in the past couple seasons but it sounds terrible to me and my wife. I absolutely don't understand and am amazed everytime I hear her voice described as unique.

I couldn't agree more. I was amazed she got so far in the competition. I noticed many female singers started singing like that after Ellie Goulding made it big.

Agree. While I think she has a good voice, I would never have put her near the top.

I think for me -

Emily Ann is a generic country girl who has skated by more on looks than talent. She and Barrett have both always sounded very nasally and generic to me. The "I always wear cowboy boots" thing to me is such a show. In fact, song choices aside, I felt like there was a stronger 17 year old blonde country chick this year alone (and I am not including comparing her to past country girls Cassadee Pope or Danielle Bradbury). It was just too much of Blake telling me she was going to be the next Carrie Underwood and me not seeing her as a star. And better than Nadja Nicole or Morgan? NO WAY!

Shelby was better, but she even told Adam she wanted a more well-known song and that was her downfall. That and country people who vote will vote for the country people on Team Blake. The sad thing is that I don't think Adam knew what to do with a country singer, but she would have lost to Emily Ann had she been on Blake's team, because Blake sees pretty young, blonde girl = $$$$. Maybe that's why I hated Emily Ann so much, because on voice alone Shelby reminded me more of a Carrie Underwood, but she didn't always wear cowboy boots or have perfect looks. (though she is also cute!)

Part of the fun in watching is investing in people, even when you know they won't win. The other part is watching how so-called professionals can run talent into the ground, too.

Didn't Pharrell go into the finals without a contestant last season too? I hate that Madi didn't make it this year, but her "save" song didn't sound very good unfortunately. I didn't watch the show, just watched a blurb on the 3 who had to sing and that 10 seconds sounded really off.

How would y'all feel if Barrett or Emily Ann won it all?

I thought he won last season with Sawyer Fredericks?

If Emily Ann or Barrett won it all, I would feel disappointed in America. Neither are in the same league as Jordan or Jeffery. Fortunately, Jordan pretty much has it in the bag despite the fact that I feel of the two Jeffery deserves it more.

Oh yeah, you're right! Maybe it was season before? Anyway, still sad Madi didn't make it through.

I am as well! My husband, who has been forced to watch, really liked her and Amy a lot!

I am surprised Amy didn't even have a chance to sing to be saved.

In my mind, despite my biases that I hate Emily Ann, it should have at least been:

1.) Jordan
2.) Emily Ann
3.) Jeffery

Shelby, Amy, Madi singing to be saved - I feel like Amy in the bottom 3 was shocking bc she's had many fans and has owned Barrett for most of the iTunes charts.

Barrett, Braiden, Zach - see ya later!
