I agree, I like to just zone out and watch fluff sometimes. The show was geared toward kids a bit but it was good overall family entertainment. It was a combo of a few different shows and yes there was a heavy 80s vibe to the show I forget what year it was 83 or 84 it was supposed to be set in.

I liked the kids I was rooting for them the whole time. I said up thread that I found Wynonna's character annoying as hell and wished that she didn't get as much screen time as she did, but whatever. The police chief was awesome I thought he did a good job as that character. Hopefully that actor gets more work in the future.

I'd say, other than the occasional f-bomb, it's one of those typical 80s family movies like the Goonies. Stuff anyone can enjoy, from 13 on up. I wouldn't say it's a kids series, just because kids are central to the plot, it gets pretty heavy, but overall maintains some levity and a sense of adventure versus depression and gloom.

Yes. It did not live up to the hype the reviews gave it.

I bingewatched the entire season this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a kid of the 80s (I WAS Barb the best friend - right down to the same glasses (*shudder*)), but didn't find that to be a hook of any kind to keep me interested. I just enjoyed it for what it was - and I'd have enjoyed it if it was set in the 2010s as well (although then everyone would have cellphones and it would have had to play out differently as a result).

The story wouldn't be possible in the 2010s, because instead of socializing and playing games and riding their bikes through town, all the kids would be sitting on the couch staring at their cell phones.

Not necessarily. D&D has made a big comeback in my neck of the woods, with kids having weekend-long marathons of the game all summer long.
