I watched the first 5 minutes. When I realized that it was YET ANOTHER EPISODE of them getting more free junk. The entire family (if you can call them a family) makes me sick.

Interesting in the first show how they continued saying "we already had this scheduled" and "why not a good kitchen for the kids"
I guess I neglected my children since they grew up without a new kitchen
The second one was pretty obvious that she was a bit shell shocked, funny how she stated this was here first time (visit?)
I think more and more as others have posted that the kids are as attached to the crew as to the parent. What a shame that they just can not see what they are doing.
BTW she/he are not doing anything superhuman, just single parenting as others do, just able to jet off to the beach when it is too difficult.

You were lucky to have missed all the Coleman endorsements in the second one!

I saw nothing wrong with the kitchen they had. Greed at it's finest.

As someone who watched the show for years, they only stopped getting along (I'm not talking about Kate's constant belittling...I'm talking about their recent underlying hostility that seems to dominate the show now) in the last 2 years. Before that, they would have fights (who doesn't?) but I always watched the show and appreciated how the family was a pretty well-oiled machine and the parents worked together to make things happen. It makes me sad to think of all the great shows they had when they were truly a family...Christmas caroling (and Jon in his top hat), Kate making a Valentine's Day treasure hunt, all of them watching Planet Earth in the basement, getting all the kids out to the tree farm at Christmas, the trip to their local theme park, the 4th of July parade....the list could go on and on.

I certainly don't condone cheating and if either of them thought it was okay to step outside of the marriage, then it certainly needed to head down the divorce road.

However, I personally think that none of this would have happened had they not received such a financial windfall and the so-called fame that went along with it. Two parents who have to work together to raise 8 kids would be busy doing what normal families do: Working, taking care of the house, spending time with the kids, cooking, spending time with each other. I only have 2 kids and I am pretty busy. My husband and I spend a lot of time just trying to get our family functioning and now that the kids are getting a little older and more independent, we get to actually have "alone" time. When that happens, I realize how much I appreciate him and the hard work that he does, both outside and inside of the house. If I had 8 kids, my appreciation would be tenfold.

Jon and Kate became famous and more importantly, RICH. Neither of them need to work at a regular job but neither of them really DO anything. Kate has nothing to contribute about great parenting...her only "job" is to go around the country talking about her family. Nearly every parent in the world likes to talk about their kids...Kate just gets paid for it. And Jon is now looking into a clothing line? Puh-leeze. They are acting like "trust fund" children...only they received their windfall later in life. They still have no idea what to do with it and have let the money turn them into different people. I don't think Jon would have been wandering aimlessly through life, going from one job to another, if he actually had to take responsibility. He worked a regular job at the beginning of the show. Kate might have even gone back to work once the kids started going to school full time. They would not have been off cavorting with teenagers in the Riviera, heading to the personal shopper, living in a mansion. While I certainly don't want any families to go through life struggling...sometimes it's the hardships that bring people closer together. Neither of them have a purpose and neither of them have a common goal that they are working towards. Saying "I do everything for my kids" is a cop-out and a standard parent answer.

Do you think Kate's constant belittling might have had something to do with Jon's attitude toward her?

I think they both did not put their relationship first.
The best thing you can do for your children IMO is to love your spouse.

I didn't watch it either. I wasn't in the mood to get irritated last night listening to her whine and then be a b*tch. Same old Kate, different day. Instead I watched Intervention and Obsessed.

Hubby and I watched the show last night. Kate still talks down to John like when he suggested the fridge have pull out drawers and she asked if he was from another planet...then found out that his suggestion was actually a good one. John's still a jerk....I have to admire Kate for staying with her kids, enjoys doing stuff with them. For all her faults, at least she's living up to her responsibilities.

For the kids sake, I'm holding out hope their hearts will change and they will reconcile.

First time setting up a tent?

I'm annoyed. They pretty much had a dream kitchen to begin with. It seems wasteful to me to tear out perfectly good cabinets. They could have added pull-out drawers to them w/o gutting the whole kitchen! I didn't see, but heard someone say on the show that they are getting new appliances. I hope not. They got new appliances when they moved in less than a year ago! I've been through a kitchen remodel w/ young kids and I didn't have the option to head to the beach for a week while they tore up my house!

And then, a 30 minute Coleman commercial. Why waste ALL that camping gear on a family that doesn't even camp??? I think I'll write to TLC and ask them to do a REAL camping episode, where they actually leave their back yard! I give Kate credit for at least trying to put up a tent. How nice for her to have a whole crew there to set up the big one for her. I felt a little bad that Maddy, in the interview chair, rolled her eyes and said it wasn't very good. It wasn't, but Maddy should appreciate the thought and the effort.
