I think Jesse gets away, and Walt is captured by the bad guys and has to cook.

I think Jesse is forced to cook and that is why Walt comes home from NH, to save Jesse. Loyal to the end.

Probably thought Walt had just lost his nerve or changed his mind about Jesse. They aren't going to let Walt out of the deal he made.
