I have a management job in retail - I've been with two major retailers, the current one for almost 15 years. Please let me know what retailers are offering these retention programs, small perks and bonuses. Haven't seen even a hint of this during my retail career, but I'm ready for a change if there's a retailer where these things actually exist!

Hey manager in retail: Would the places you work hire an unemployed 4050 year old business executive who was looking to make a few dollars while he or she was looking for another full time job?

OP sounds like a Auto mechanic who does not know how to repair a car.

His last paragraph questions his authenticity.

I haven't seen too many 50 (or 40, or 35) year olds in Hot Topic in any capacity! But I agree with the other suggestions of Nordstrom's, Macy's, etc. Department stores tend to skew older in personnel hires.

Actually I know the manager at one of the local Hot Topics. She's almost 40, but looks a lot younger with the requisite piercings and ink to go along with it.

That's a bunch of crap. Sometimes stuff happens that isn't at all the fault of that 100/yr guy that has no savings . Fortunately, I wasn't also laid off but I went from having $500,000 in the bank and a paid off house to starting all over again, no house and $50,000 in the bank with legal bills to pay off after my wife sued for divorce after 20+ years in a community property state and with little education herself so I got stuck giving her a big alimony payment in a lump sum. I can also see self-employed people with no or hi-deductible medical insurance getting wiped out when they get sick and can no longer run their business. I hate this kind of smug attitude.

There but for the grace of God go I! (BTW, the ex tried to get me fired by starting fights with me in the lobby of my company and mailing all sorts of lies to my boss and the CEO of my company. Could have easily happened if I wasn't such a good and hard worker).

Do you get any kind of company subsidized medical insurance? If so, they don't provide that for the heck of it. They do it so you will stay with the company.
