Your assessment might be true for the rest of the country, but in the northeast, usually the north end of the city is the worst.
South Bronx is worse then North Bronx I'm not saying North Bronx isn't bad it's just overall not as bad as south Bronx

Impossible. Cincinnati has no south side.

Philly and Baltimore don't follow this patter, South Philly is fairly nice in comparison to the scary north. Ditto B-more where South Baltimore is the best most expensive area while the north is very ghetto.

Hi all--

I remember growing up in North Philly in the 90's and all the horror stories about people getting shot, burgled, etc. Not good. South Philly wasn't much better; I hear it is now, 15-20 years later, though.

There's a clear difference between west side and east side of Cincinnati - as Ohiogirl points out, there is no 'south side', as it spills over into Kentucky (and Covington, apart from east of Scott/south of 12th is largely OK).

There's an even starker difference between west and east Dayton, which this graphic shows best:

South Philly, North Philly, West Philly, Southwest Philly. You name it, it's bad. The only reason East Philly isn't bad is because there is no East Philly, and if there were, it would be Camden and would be bad.

Hi unusualfire--

You can pull this - and any other picture up like it using Dave's Redistricting Tool (although it requires silverlight). Load up by state (the larger states, including Ohio, take a while to load) and you can then sort by population (demographic makeup) or even voting patterns. I once had several maps like that on my computer; but that's the only one I can still find.

Although I certainly wouldn't call my post racist. There's no distinction between west and east side in Cincinnati, except perhaps the crime rate. North Philly on the other hand...
