And Richmond is still Southern today. It doesnt matter. Culturally, Virginia fits in MUCH MORE with the Southeastern states (because it is one!) than the Mid-Atlantic states of PA, and NJ.

NOVA and Hampton roads are current exceptions.

Virginia is also a few hours away from New York City.
A few hours away? How fast do you drive.

Richmond is 6 hours away from NYC. And thats when traffic is not as bad as it usually it.

Richmond is actualy closer to the SC border - A Deep South state than it is to NYC.

"Standard Federal Regions"

Region I: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont
Region II: New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands
Region III: Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia : THIS IS THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION.
Region IV: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee
Region V: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin
Region VI: Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma
Region VII: Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska
Region VIII: Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming
Region IX: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands)
Region X: Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington

The you have the

The EPA-- "Region 3: The Mid-Atlantic Region, Serving Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia".

The you have other things.......like trees......

They consider Virginia in the Mid-Atlantic region because of several species of oak, birch, maple, and hickory, that are found in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.

Deciduous Forests (http://www.scsc.k12.ar.us/2000backeast/ENatHist/Members/CovingtonN/Default.htm - broken link)
Ignore the stupid maps. They're just ways of lumping certain states together. Because of Virginia's Upper South location, you could lump us in as Mid-Alantic. More for statistical purposes than anything else.

Ignore THESE maps? Meanwhile you dug up a million in posts past that claim to represent your 19th century mindset.

Give it up VA Singer. Arlington, VA is 4 hours from NYC and 4 hours from Norfolk.

A person standing on Memorial Bridge in Arlington County is exactly as far from the Cumberland Gap, Virginia's western extreme point, as they are from downtown Boston, Massachusetts -- 394 miles (636 km).

That is a fact. Arlington: Weather from Answers.com

So take that and stuff it in your confederate hat and smoke it.

Default defined

The Commonwealth of Virginias- is a small crown dependency in North America. It was originally part of the United States of America but broke up in the 1960’s due to various reasons; the country is located between the South, Midwest, and Mid Atlantic regions of its former country. There is also a small, uninhabited portion on the Delmarva Peninsula known as the Eastern Penis. Virginia unfortunately lies in a damaged portion of space-time, resulting in everything there about to happen backwards into the present.

Yeah, we can get there without driving all day long? So what? From NC and SC you can get there in a day as well.

I got to Rock Mount, NC from Richmond in 1 hr 45 min

I can get from Richmond to SC border in 4.5 hours. Closer than NYC,

So there.
