I listened to Gov. Inslee today. I like his business like demeanor, his appealing to our better natures, his positive comments about Washingtonians, and his following the science. I like the guy.

But IMO, he needs to omit references to Trump directly. His bad mouthing has cost the state. Sure, Trump is a narcissistic jerk, but you still have to work with him. I think Trump does not want to facilitate anything for the citizens of Washington. Contrast that with Newsome’s cultivation of Trump in order to get what the state needs. I’m not saying Inslee should be a hypocrite, but he should have probably exercised more tact early on.

I notice that he has a habit of saying exactly what he thinks. I like that, honestly. But sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

Anyone know what his reputation is for working with/for him?

If I had to choose between listening to him or Cuomo, I’d take him.

It has no public access at all.

I will not poach but, could we by chance be able to harvest from our own property?
Is that too much to ask???

I saw the pics where people were elbow to elbow fishing.
Maybe we could just fine the heck out of those peeps that don’t understand social distancing.
Makes no sense to punish people harvesting on their own property that are keeping up with the social distancing rule.

My neighbors all raise oysters.
Are they now in violation of the current laws if they want to eat them?

Other than that I think the governor did fine with this situation but he isn’t one that I would normally like.

People that paint with a broad brush don’t see clearly in my view.
Common Sense.
Monday, we were walking Connector Trial and MarymoorPark (Redmond-King County Park), a Sheriff, Redmond police, and 2 park keepers past us or obviously saw us. Park was closed per sign. Nary a word. We did cross any tape-off areas.

Inslee is wrong on so many levels. Essentials business are to be open yet some stores are allowed to sell non essentials like house paint, plants, garden tools. Why is that allowed to be sold and have people employed in those areas when a mom and pop garden store can't be allowed to be opened? That is not an even playing field.

I am very surprised that this has gone on for this long. My store is a monopoly that is protected by the so called " essential" umbrella. Yet where is Inslee on this matter? No where! I can see why protestors are feed up when the governor is hand picking winners and losers at this time.

I don’t know the answer to your question about mom and pop garden stores. Are you sure they are considered non-essential? I know COSTCO has sections of the store roped off. You can’t buy from the “non-essential” shelves. I have heard that some stores have cordoned off non-essential merch, but I go out very little, so I don’t know details.

The garden depts. at big box hardware stores are open. I do think plants are essential.

In his last press conference, Gov. Inslee said that they had given thought to how citizens could get what they needed during a shutdown. I suspect that essential businesses were chosen on that basis.

The shutdown will go on longer than May 4. The goal is saving lives, and apparently it is working.

We visited a local garden shop yesterday. They had distancing rules in effect. I don’t know where you got the idea that garden shops were not allowed to open.

I hate gardening with a passion. I just assumed garden shops were non essential and my store got lucky since they sell tools and hardware.

I would say gardening is essential, strict quarantines can put a risk on our food security, plus the more people who end up growing their own food, the less they will have to go get groceries.

Mostly gardening supplies come from stores that also do home improvement.

If you have a leaking pipe, roof, bad water heater or an electrical issue it actually is essential.

Me on the other hand,
I love gardening, and I am very thankful I can wear my mask, my gloves and properly stay 8 feet away from people to purchase these gardening items so I can somewhat act normal.

If “Santa” could grant me one wish...
He would actually allow me to fish, clam and crab on my “OWN” property and be legal.

I would dig being able to not break any laws harvesting Dungeness Crab in my backyard.

I’m just a poor ass construction worker.
No more no less.

Have you seen the prices on the crap crab at the stores recently?
Near $20 a piece and the quality absolutely sucks

Yikes!

Private property should be exempt.

That’s all I got.

Andy

@MechAndy,
just think, you giving the crabs and clams a head start in evading your shovel and traps. BTW, Clams are blinded and freeze in place when a bright light hits them at night.
