Wow...I'm in Ventura right now thinking of moving to Washington...strange to see people from my exact county on these boards! It's great to hear what people think. What made you folks decide to move?

San Juan Islands
One of my co-workers has purchased some land and is planning to build a home and retire to the San Juan Islands next year. She says that the islands get less rain than the WA coast and the islands are beautiful. From pictures of her land, I'd say she is correct. Let me know if you want me to ask her any questions about San Juan. Her son lives in Lacey and really loves it there also.

Hey Kid, I'd be interested in information about the San Juan Islands. We are happily ensconsed in Ashland, Oregon at the moment after living in Ventura County for five years, but I'm missing the access to salt water.
Thanks!

Hiya, Shadow. We moved due to my husband's retirement. Those nice bonuses which enabled us to stay in Thousand Oaks were not part of the retirement package. Economics lead us to Ashland, Oregon. Lovely place. It's pretty quiet so if you're looking for more of a nightlife/city feel, it wouldn't work for you. It's got the Shakespear Festival from February to October which draws people from all over the place. There are lots of restaurants, places to shop, and theaters. So far we like it here. I miss ocean access though and wouldn't mind being closer to the water.
Good luck making your decision. From reading these threads, it seems like one person's paradise is another's poison. Read everything you can and make your decision.

oh, okay, Kathleen... I'll try to send you those same links.
I'll PM them to you too so you can get the feel of the PMs here on this board. Who knows, you may already have some in your inbox and not even know it! Take a look up in the top right corner of this page where it says:
"Welcome, Kathleenh54.
You last visited: Yesterday at 11:59 PM (or whatever)
Private Messages: Unread 0, Total 0."
Once I send you a PM, you'll see it will say "1" or if you already have a number in there, it will have an additional one.
Okay, more later.

Kathleen--
I sent a PM to ya but for some reason I'm having trouble sending the same message out through email. I'll keep working on it but see if you can retrive the PM.
Okay, more later.
