Are that tree budding?!

Did you not get a frost, or at least a severe one yet, even though you've been below average?

Nothing like that here, we've had plenty of hard freezes.

This sort of thing isn't normal and it hasn't been mild either. And no trees should be budding because of the strong sun as taken a break...

Talking about confused trees there are trees near where I lie that were green even up to maybe a few days ago, now the leafs have dropped off but didnt go through the colouring stage.
Similar story here, a few small trees and bushes are still green or just now starting to turn yellow. I suspect that they'll die off when we get a real freeze.

If that isn't strange, we also had a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon that dropped hail, very odd weather for the 2nd half of December.

It's the same thing here, we had a really impressive downpour on Saturday night, with hail reports in other parts of the metro. There's a similar tree with white flowers out since the end of November, still looking okay even though one week ago we've had a -7°C low. Strange.

Christmas last year had a high of 13C and a low of 8C - the following day had a high of 13C and a low of 10C.

No sign of that this year - grateful for small mercies I suppose?

Meanwhile, we could end up with over 100mm of rain this month, despite a dry, sunny start.
