The site I looked at had mostly 2-3C this year. Baltimore had the warmest water temps in Jan/Feb at 4C.

A water butt / tank is a thing you store rain water in, I don't know what is rude about it. I am interested to know the temperature of the water inside it because it might give an idea of the temperature of some of the reservoirs or lakes around here. I'm looking for my thermometer to put in it but I can't find it.

When I say southern England I mean the Thames estuary, Straits of Dover and the English Channel. The Wash isn't southern England.

Oh sorry, I just thought it was an interesting fact. I didn't realize that sea temperatures almost hit 0c in the east of england. I think if were to have a couple of months of constant 0c they may hit freezing.

The East Anglian waters are notably colder than even the Thames estuary.

Bournemouth's (in the central English Channel) coldest monthly average water temp in Feb is 2.6C, so some days were probably 1-2C either side of this.

Oh really that's amazing I didn't think anywhere in the bi could get that cold. Do you know where I can see this data for other areas.

I found that on a website with weather data for Bournemouth Beach, I'm not sure where else would have data for other cities.
