Quite true.

As of today the whole Tri-State area (NYC/NJ/CT) is warming…and all areas should crack 80 F in the coming days… add in a more humid southerly flow/maybe some thunderstorms, and will feel just like a typical old fashioned Tri-State summer for the next 7 days.

…and by the way, NWS Central Park is right at normal for this time of year – 0.1 F above as of today (and we hit 90 F already too). Yesterday sticks out like a sore thumb - nothing like the current month as whole

lol. Or Mid West too. I guess the ship could have a lot of names on it. lol

St. Cloud, Minnesota has only had 2 above normal day highs in the last 24 days.

Orlando, Florida only 7 times above normal with the day high since May 13th!(32 days)

Not even Florida can get hotter than normal. But its the night lows that are mostly above normal ruining the average data on paper.

These types of "is it hot or cold lately" debates are best solved with maps. May was a bit above average, I don't know if getting a map for just June is possible yet.

I have learned to realize that statement is not totally accurate and Im sure you and others will agree. Unfortunetly its the only thing we have available.

Those maps are the average. So the day can be cold and the night be well above normal and guess what... the maps will show above normal. So its hiding the fact that the days have been colder than normal.

yes, June is available. Just click timescale and click since 1st of the month. Current Climate Summary Maps - Powered by ACIS - High Plains Regional Climate Center

Current temps in Northeast. Run the loop if you can find it. Pretty cool to see the clouds streaming down the high peaks of the Green and Berkshires and the Adirondaks mountains..

No, that's a plus not a problem. If we want to look at temperature, average temperature is the most meaningful, looking at just the days or nights is biased. Nothing is hidden, you're getting the true average.
