people in the MN forum often rate summer as their least favorite season. It constantly floors me that people could like bitter cold. To each their own. Here's our typical January weather, too cold for me.
Averaging 0 degrees F for a low for 3 solid months is just brutal.. having it get below zero in the middle of March, which it has done, again brutal. We've had a really nice last two springs though. I'm used to eastern WI winters... lows in the teens, highs around 30. That's fine by me. I grew up 2 miles from Lake Michigan, which moderated the temperatures.
This morning we here in San Francisco experienced a positively frigid 41F (5C) -- which is about as cold as it ever gets here. I've been here 3.5 years and IIRC the very coldest temperature we've had during that time is 37F (3C).

Man, those are some crazy warm minimum winter temperatures for a place in France that's further north than Detroit or Chicago! 29F to 35F for the coldest temperatures in a winter?? One has to go pretty much to the Gulf Coast (30N) in the eastern U.S. to get temperatures that mild during the winter.
And another thing: with overnight temperatures so warm during the winter, do you guys really have a dormant season where the grass stops growing completely? In plenty of the U.S. further south than France, we do.
Actually um that's pretty cold for that latitude. Parts of extreme south west do not reach those temperatures- obviously we do, but they are much warmer.
No it's been 2c like most days this winter. So 2c is the temperature I'm used to of course 7.5c will feel mild, you gotta be on crack If you think that's cold!

southern France is probably the warmest and definitely has the mildest winters of anywhere in the world at its latitude, except maybe a few island spots. North America reaches much, much colder temperatures at the same latitude (for New England at 44° a typical winter reaches around -28°C)
