Looks like they haven't had more than 10 inches of snow in September in 4 decades. Judging by the camera maybe their close if that's the spot where measurements are taken.
Past 15 days models were advertising a deep trough in the Eastern United States, a coastal storm, and below normal temperatures.
But Reality now shows, high pressure, above normal temperatures, and a large ridge.
The models were suggesting a negative EPO was on the way, which is a strong trough or upper level low around the Aleutian Islands.
Instead, a broad trough around the Gulf of Alaska developed, which forced the whole pattern to the east and forced a ridge to develop in the eastern two-thirds of the United States.
It may be cool in the far NW sections of the USA...but it looks a lot like high summer from the plains eastward. The East Coast and Gulf coast will see more endless summer weather this week, and by the looks of things most of October;
