Any winter forecast calling for a warm winter, or first half at least, needs their head examined. You CANNOT ignore the fact that these massive arctic Highs continue to drop down with colder and colder air masses. There's not a switch to say "ok, they'll drop over Europe now". It takes months! There has been no sustained heat or torch pattern in the East and maybe even central U.S too (I haven't checked central). You cannot ignore that either.
We might get some snow/sleet tonight. The temps are already dropping, being 2.2C at the moment, so let's see. It's apparently turning to rain later, but can get something white on the ground.
