A strong storm with severe qualities has been spotted on the radar in the suburbs of Millburn and Lake City, moving east at 20 mph. This storm has a history of producing hail, damaging winds (with gusts up to 70 mph), torrential rainfall with rainfall rates nearly 4"/hour, and very frequent lightning. Some rotation was also indicated on the radar but not severe enough to produce a tornado or issue a tornado watch/warning. Stay safe.

Convective thunderstorms are beginning to show up on the radar and will only intensify as the front approaches. Damaging winds up to 45 mph and small hail are possible this afternoon. The worst storms will pass through the area overnight with the most severe capable of producing medium suzed hail, gusts to 65 mph, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes,

A tornado watch has been issued for the Clearstown metropolitan area ahead of storms this evening and overnight, make sure to pay attention to the latest weather updates.
Radar indicated some rotation within a severe storm going over Winter Haven and Pecan's Grove (three miles north of WH). Rotation is getting tighter and stronger and some wind gusts over 90 MPH indicated around the area of rotation. F1 or F2 tornado possible. Areas affected will be: Pecan's Grove, Winter Haven, Stockbridge, and Decatur as the storm moves in an ESE direction. Please seek shelter immediately.

Warm and muggy today, with the first 80 F of the season, right on average actually (average first 80 F is May 14 on average). There's lots of thunderstorms scattered around today, with a severe threat later.
As you can see, a cooler and drier air mass moved into the region today. 0.78" of rain fell from a strong thunderstorm that occurred on the leading edge of a cold front. Was quite the wet last four days in Winter Haven, with 5.37" of rain recorded.
