That's why I have Great Danes. No danger of being eaten by anything smaller than a Grizzly.
My uncle had two of them before he passed away... I remember being a little kid and looking at those things and their paws were the size of my head. They may give a Grizzly a run for its money... ha ha
The folks out home kept telling me they wouldn't go into the woods without at least a sidearm, due to the coyotes, and they said I might just run into a bear.
Haven't seen the coyotes yet, but did see a bear in June, and a larger one in August. The DNR told me it wasn't unusual, but the bear harvest stats for this year in the region surprised me.
1997 gf hubby went Bear hunting....Bear ended up hunting Him! He got out of truck to set up camper & there was the Bear hehehehe Oh he shot bear loaded it up & came back home!!!
BTW we do have/had Wolves here....TimberWolf Smaller than the big greys of the west.
Me either, snorpus, and it looks like Calhoun county has the sense to leave them alone. Of course it could mean they didn't check them in. Come to think of it, there's a report on Hur Herald of an illegal bear kill in Calhoun.
If I wanted to hunt bear, I wouldn't use a pointed stick, I would want something with lots of powder, lead, and a quick reload.

Seems whoever reported seeing a fox in the Journal Junction sometime last week, don't know what area they reported seeing it in but come to read today's paper and in Journal Junction, turns out that fox may have actually been someone's pet that got loose.
